Heartland Farm, a ministry of the Dominican Sisters of Peace in Rush County, is an 80-acre homestead and retreat center. We’ve been growing vegetables to feed ourselves and our community since 1987, and since 2003 have also been home to a herd of alpacas. With the construction of our new high tunnel and the employment of a farm manager, our capacity for growing fresh food has increased substantially. We have created this online market as a way to connect with the hungry eaters of our region.

How it works
Each week we will list available produce on the site. Customers will have all day Tuesday and Wednesday to place their orders. On Thursday morning we will harvest produce and bring them into Great Bend on Thursday afternoon. When the Summer Stroll Farmers Market is running (June Jaunt through Labor Day), customers may pick up their orders at the market on the square. During the rest of the year customers may pick up their orders at the Motherhouse in Great Bend. On-farm pick ups are available year round, at our mutually agreed upon convenience, for those who cannot make the pick up times or who would like to come out to the farm. Additional items will be available for sale at the market and on the farm.

Membership levels
Anyone can sign up and order food online whenever they would like. However, to encourage investment in the farm we offer a modified CSA model. Load your account with $300 and receive a 10% discount (wholesale level pricing) on all purchases, plus get occasional bonuses of new crops we are trying thrown in for free. When your account balance gets low, we will invite you to recharge it in order to keep your membership benefits. We are unable to refund unspent balances, but they never expire, and can be transferred to other members or turned over into a donation to the farm.

Although ordering is done online, payments can be made in cash or by check. All totals made by the online market are estimates, which will be adjusted based on the exact weight of products priced by the pound and by any additional items you may choose to purchase at pick-up. While we will continue to accept Senior Farmers Market vouchers at the Summer Stroll Farmers Market, we cannot apply them to online orders.

Wholesale memberships also available to restaurants.
